Question
When I configure my board color assignments, I lose the settings each time I turn on global visibility. Is there a way I can create and save a color view in PCB Editor that isn't lost when I turn on global visibility?
Solution
Color assignments remain intact after you create and apply a color view. The steps that follow explain how you can create and reopen a customized color view. These instructions assume you already have your color assignments configured as desired.
- Select the menu items: Display > View > Color View Save to open the Color Views dialog.
- Enter a name for your new view.
Note: By default the view-configuration file has the .color extension and is saved in the same directory as your project files. However, if you want to save your *.color file in a different directory that can be shared, click the ellipsis button (three dots) and browse to select the directory.
- Select the Complete radio button. If you want to preserve the zoom level, place a check mark in the Preserve zoom level check box.
- Click the Save and Close buttons.
You can quickly redisplay your view by opening the Visibility tab (accessed from the menu: Display > Windows > Visibility) and clicking the View field to display the drop-list menu. Select your view name from the drop-list menu.
