Question

My OrCAD Capture CIS seat in Windows is unable to obtain a license from our Linux based License Manager.

Solution

Often, this is due to a networking issue between Windows and Linux caused by server naming. On the Windows machine, check to verify that the CDS_LIC_FILE environment variable is set to use a fully qualified domain name in place of a simple server name. The difference should look something like this: (Simple server name) 5280@server. (FQDN Server name) 5280@server.host.domain.com.
