Question

I am attempting to install my OrCAD products. However, I am receiving an InstallShield Unicode error and I am unable to complete the installation.


Solution

Resetting the InstallShield folder can solve this issue when installation OrCAD 17.2.x or 17.4.x products. Sometimes the InstallShield setup can be corrupted. This can be resolved by resetting the InstallShield folder as follows:

  1. Access the C:\ drive and go into Program Files X86.

  2. Ensure that you have Hidden Folders enabled under your windows explorer view settings by going to view -> options. Click on the view tab, then select the dot next to “Show hidden files, folders, and drives”. Then Click OK.
     
  3. You should then see a folder called “InstallShield Installation Information”. Rename this folder to something else.
     
  4. Reboot your computer and try running the installer once again.
