Our vendor is asking us for a component placement file that includes the X and Y coordinates as well as the rotation of each component on the design. How can we create this file?

 

Solution

To create your component placement file, complete the following steps.

  1. Open your completed design in PCB editor.

  2. Select the Export > Pick/Place Data menu. Your selection opens the Export Placement dialog.



  3. Select a radio option to specify the placement origin for the components.

  4. Click the Export button. A placement file you can forward to your vendor is created. The default name for this file is place_txt.txt.
