The PSpice “Save As” and “Archive” features allow you to save all project features you have set up. It also enables you to save your simulation libraries.

The tutorial instructions that follow explain how to: :

  • Use the Save As functionality
  • Archive a PSpice project.

To begin this tutorial, open your project schematic page. Notice the “Save As” and “Archive” menu items are inactive and grayed-out.

To activate the “Save As” and “Archive” functionality, go to the project manager pane, and click to highlight the design resource or the .dsn file. Then select File > Save Project As menu items. Notice how the save and archive menu items became activated.

When you select File > Save Project As… a dialogue box opens. Click the Ellipsis button to browse and select a new Destination Directory. Enter a name for your project.

Be sure to select a destination directory that is not within your old project folder. The Settings area of the dialog provides options you can choose to rename your DSN to match your project and to copy all referred files that are either within or out of the project folder.

If you have any questions about these “Save Project As…” options, you can click the Help button to access Cadence help.

Click the OK button in the Save Project As dialog to create and activate a new project. Creating a new project enables you to preserve the original project while you continue to update your new project.

The File > Archive Project..  menu selection compresses all of your PSpice files into one convenient zip file. This enables you to easily share your schematics and simulation files with colleagues.

To use this function, click the design resources or the .dsn file in your Project Manager pane, then go to the main menu and select File > Archive Project…

Your menu selection opens the Archive Project dialog screen. Use the check boxes presented in this dialog to select the type of files you want to include in your zip file. Options include Library files, Output files, and Referenced projects. You may also select a check box to include TestBench.

Click the Ellipsis button to select a directory location where you want to archive the zip file.

The zip file is ready to share after you click the OK button.
